Let's experience Japanese
culture through SUSHI!
I had never had sushi before coming to this workshop, so it was especially satisfying that my first experience eating it was also made by my own hands! It was a really unique experience.
What makes this workshop unique is that it takes place in a shop that is actually operational, so you feel like you are a proper sushi chef. I can't speak a lick of Japanese, but it didn't matter because the 'taisho' (a Japanese word I learned that day that basically means 'sushi master' or 'sushi chef') was incredibly kind and patient. Not only did I learn how to make a mean sushi roll but I also picked up a few Japanese words along the way.
It wasn't too far from the station and easily to navigate. What's kind of special is that since the shop is an actual sushi restaurant I could go back later as a customer and just eat there. Which I did, of course, and it was great seeing the sushi master in their natural working environment knowing that I had been taught to do the same thing.
